How to choose
Start with the base, because it is the part that cannot be changed later. A sauna needs a level, load-bearing base — concrete, paving slabs or a properly built timber deck. Ground that moves will rack the door frame, and a sauna door that no longer seals is a sauna that no longer heats.
Then the power. Most heaters above 4.5kW need a dedicated circuit, and larger cabins usually need a 3-phase or a 32A supply run by a qualified electrician. Getting an electrician to quote before ordering is the single most useful thing you can do, because it is the cost people do not budget for.
Size it for how many actually use it. A two-person barrel heats in 20 to 30 minutes; a six-person cabin takes longer and costs more per session to run. A sauna used by two people most evenings is better small than large.
Leave access all the way round. You will need to treat the timber, and a cabin against a fence cannot be maintained on that side. 50cm of clearance is enough to work in.
